Policies & Procedures

 Comfort & Modesty

Great communication is vital for any bodywork session. Your therapist will regularly check in with you to ensure pressure (and the degree of stretch if it applies to your session) is at a comfortable level. The client is always in control of what happens during their bodywork session, and will be asked if there are any areas they do not wish to be touched or worked on (feet, face, scalp, or glutes are common examples of sensitive areas for some individuals).

A good therapist is trained to make sure each client is properly covered during the entire session and feels safe and secure. Your privacy will always be respected. You will be fully draped during your entire session with the exception of the body part being worked on. If a client wishes to have their glutes worked on (as they are a common culprit for low back pain and issues), this area will always be worked on through the sheet or the client’s clothing.

There is also the option to remain fully clothed (loose comfortable clothing the you can freely move in). Many soft tissue techniques can be performed through clothing if need be. Remaining clothed also gives the added benefit of being able to move from stretch to stretch more quickly with less restriction. Many clients opt for a combination of the two, splitting the session between massage work to begin, and then ending the session with customized stretches while fully dressed.

 Lateness & Appointment Cancellations

Though the therapist understands that life happens and certain circumstances are out of our control, if you arrive after your designated appointment time, the session may be shortened and the full session fee is still owed.

Should you need to reschedule your appointment entirely, the therapist asks for a minimum of 24 hours notice. Clients that provide a minimum of 24 hours notice may cancel and reschedule with no additional charge. Clients that provide less than 24 hours notice or do not show up for their appointment will be fully charged for the missed session. If the client cancels or does not show up for their session, they are asked to provide and explanation, as each situation may be handled on a case by case basis at the discretion of the therapist.

 Professional Boundaries

Any subtle or overt inappropriate behaviors, such as suggestive comments, offensive jokes, or inappropriate touching will not be tolerated, and the client’s session will be immediately terminated. Requests for sexual activity of any kind will absolutely not be tolerated and will be viewed as solicitation and reported to the authorities.

 Confidentiality & HIPAA

Conversation between the client and therapist is always confidential. It is up to client if they wish to talk throughout their session, although the benefit of the bodywork session is greater if conversation is kept to a minimum. This allows the client to relax completely in order to more fully connect with their body.

All client information will be handled in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

 Medical Conditions

It is the responsibility of the client to keep the therapist informed of any past or current medical history, as some can contraindicate massage and bodywork.

Pregnancy

Bodywork can be extremely beneficial during pregnancy, but please advise the therapist if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant.
